Playing at a table with DMbot
DMbot is a helper for your game master (the DM). If you say yes, it listens to your table's voice chat and writes down what is said, so it can look up rules and remember the story. It never decides anything: the game master does.
Only people who say yes are written down, and everyone in your Discord server can read the written record. Here is what to expect.
Saying yes
When your game master starts listening, DMbot sends you a private message in Discord. Nothing is written down until you press the button.
- DMbot sends you a private message. Press I'm 16 or older, record me to say yes.
- Want to say no? Press No thanks. You can still play.
- To stop at any time, press ⚙️ Menu in that private message, then Stop recording me, then Yes, stop recording me.
What you might see
- Everyone in the server can read a game's transcript. To read or download one, type /transcript.
- Anyone at the table who said yes can ask DMbot a quick rules question: say "Hey DMbot" or type it in the dmb-chat channel. Your question is posted there with your name. Your game master has the final say.
- In a fight, DMbot's fight helper, FightBot, may send you a short private reminder of what your sheet says you still have, like a spell, a feature, or spell slots. It only reminds you. Your game master decides what happens. To switch it off, press 📜 My character sheet, then Turn FightBot off.
- Your game master may show the story's day and time, like "Day 5, morning", in your own channel. You do not need to do anything.
Questions? Ask your game master. More steps are on the Help page. What DMbot keeps is on the Privacy page.
